My entry for the Okami contest (right under the line, as usual). The original image at the specified resolution is 11.1Mb as a png image so this is at reduced size.

This was inspired by a game screenshot I came across where the main character is sitting at the centre of a water lily. It was such a beautiful image, and brought to mind so many other mythological tales of such as Venus rising from an oyster or the babylonian god who was born from an egg, that I knew that was the message I wanted to explore with my submission for this contest!

I've yet to had the opportunity to play this game, despite how utterly wonderful it looks, hence why I really wanted to enter this contest! I love every aspect of the art, style and story of this game that I have thus far been able to come across so I can't wait for any chance to play it personally!

Many, many hours of work went into this thing, and it was a whale of a piece with upwards of 80 (EIGHTY!) layers generated in creating it.

I've been sick as a dog lately with a chest cold and asthma and have had to miss some uni classes, and this image was only finished thanks to four great friends who helped me by giving me some feedback and drive along the way!
:iconcsharpmajor: :iconnii-tan: :iconwild-filly: and nigrescere!

So a big thankyou for all of your wonderful people!

And yes, I love rainbow.

Stock of :iconforsakewolf: was used as reference for the very dynamic pose of the wolf in this image! (it's fabulous stock!).

Oh My Golly-gosh, someone used a word like 'majestic' on my work! I feel like I could have an aneurysm out of sheer delight~!
Thankyou so much for the compliment! And thanks for the favourite too~!

Have a wonderful day!

*snicker* It looks awesome! Very good job you've done on it. Fluffy wolf-dogs are always good in my book... and this one takes the cake. Gorgeous colours too!

Anyone seen my sanity? You can't miss it. It's still in its protective packaging.

I have sunk to a new low. I laughed at an estoppel law joke.

ZAH!!!!!!!! Finally it's done! I've been going utterly insane and haven't been able to breathe for the past few days! (but now I can, thanks to super inhaler which has *SUPERDRUGS*) Yay for bronchial inflamation and underlying asthma! (f*ck, really, it's been very non-great) anyway, super super relived it's finally done!!!!

Thanks for the compliment, and yeah, it looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy different from when I showed it to you!!! And yeah, after ... well, I really can't say how many hours I spent on this monstrosity but it's in the over 24 range, and I'm actually very happy with the result!(Well, if you'd asked me 7 or 8 hours ago what I thought I probably would have been in a horrific state of depressive swoon, though now the stress of the great, looming, PST time deadline I'm now relatively saner and am able to look at it objectively now...)

And I guess I'd have to say that of all the pieces in my gallery, this one has probably (hell, well and truly) had the most work put into it and it shows. Plus, it's showing off the fact that (yay!) my skills are gradually increasing. Which is great, because by the end of the year I should be able to do some real specky stuff (and yes, I'll do something for you in the end-of-year holidays if you give me a brief/concept) so, yay.

But yeah, somehow I managed to slip something so utterly rainbow-licious into my relatively mature gallery. Yay for chroma burn!

Oh, yeah, btw! SORRY SORRY! I haven't been able to drop by Ros's stuff yet because of the whole not being able to breathe thing combined with the whole fact that with the not being able to breathe thing meand I haven't been able to go to the city to pick up her thing! But I'm going in tomorrow so I can do that then and get it to you this week end!

ZAHHHHH! I'm so sorry!

*snicker* Nice going, yes. The work in this one definitely shows, that's for sure. Truly is quite lovely...

Heh, don't worry about the package too much - I've been up to my elbows in equity law for the last week and a bit, so I haven't sent it off, or even really thought about sending it. Or indeed thought much at all. I hate exams, I truly do. My right hand's sending me its expressions of innermost loathing as well. I'll see you sometime this weekend then! My exam is on Saturday morning -_-

I love the way you drew Amaterasu. She looks a lot like a fu dog.

ha ha, yeah, when I was a kid and our family lived with my grandparents for a few years, our grandparents had a couple cool fu dogs in their house (not to accidently imply we're chinese, my grandfather had been abroad on business trips and also been to china while in the navy) so I think their style has always been in my head somewhere, trying to get out.

Plus, I was looking at Amaterasu's design and I really was trying to figure out how to make the "fur-wings" work because my brain can't wrap itself around such a concept so I just wound up extrapolating from all the curls already existing in her design. Plus, I blame the fact that we have poodles for being why my brain thinks curls is the natural way for fur to go.

Thankyou for the comment and for the favourite! I am very grateful! Have a nice day~!
